It's pronounced 'Oh-steh-ree-yah Rossa'. Its nickname is 'Michitaly'. You heard right. It's a cross between Michigan & Italy. A Michigan restaurant with Italian influence, Osteria Rossa is located downtown in Grand Rapids, MI and has not only a menu, but a wine list as well, sourced from both the 'warmth of the mitten' (Michigan) and the 'soul of the boot' (Italy).
I'd like to go on record noting that this was the BEST Italian dining experience I have ever had in the entire state of Michigan. -Allie Merrick
The concept behind the wine program, the elevation of the food quality and the atmosphere that draws comfort while still holding a level of sophistication makes the palate yearn for more & more. These people know what they're doin'. -Peter Eizel
At a solid 3 bottles out of 5, Osteria Rossa rocks out a lineup of wines that is either of Michigan or Italian origin. And while the list's vino variation encompasses only two main regions, there is a depth of character and flavor variety that works 'oh-so-well'. The quality is there. And the price can't be complained about. Presented on a few simple sheets of paper, the list speaks for itself one sip at a time, with a kick ass soundtrack played in the background providing a solid element of ambiance that many restaurants lack. If Osteria Rossa had a Spotify playlist, I would subscribe. Cheers! -Allie
